Fruitful studying session in school.

While walking down a little path home, I chanced upon a pretty kitten. It was orange with faint yellow stripes, which made it looked like a miniature lion. We started meow-ing at each other.

Kemudian, I went home, opened up my piano score books and played some of my favourite pieces. Haha, got the same feeling as though I was re-reading my favourite books.

I haven't posted anything substantial for a while...

Anyway, so the last week of term 1 ended on a low note for me. It was quite a tense and stressful week, partly due to the accumulation of undone homework and bad planning on my part. But I have been enjoying all my extra-curricular activities. Hehe, it's quite fun and meaningful. And many thanks to all my friends who have been constantly giving me encouragement.

First Aid Comp'12
Uhm, the preparation leading up to FAC finals: briefing on Wed night, and then there was another Moulage session on Thursday night. I learnt how to make mock injuries, basically the bleeding, burns and fracture and variations of these injuries.
The carnival, link section of FAC, was full of frantic activities. Haha, the teachers and the primary school kids were running around the school. Well, I was appalled to see competitive teachers who pressurize their students. It was really shocking when one teacher nagged at the kids "aiyo, hurry up and tie the bandage! Why still waiting for Christmas is it?" ;_; hur, this is scary when the teacher wants the school to win so badly. Otherwise, I think the concept of an amazing race carnival for the links is quite cool :)
The afternoon was more exciting! Haha, the moulage team got to apply mock injuries for all our VI casualties. Hurhur, and I got to do my favourite injury - bleeding forehead! So I was squirting alot of blood (glue with red food dye) around. Oh, and my casualties are my masterpieces! Haha, I have to find the photos then maybe put it up here. So we sent out batches of casualties, watch rgsrcy :), and bet upon ice-cream.
When I was a cadet, somehow 'we' seem to be over-critical people who like to find faults in HQ working styles. Bleh, blame it on angsty youth days and different school culture and shallow immature thoughts. After going through VIP, the programme has shaped me, my ideals and working style such that they are more or less aligned to the RCY VI style. Haha, it's not that easy organising events after all :P

Sunday
Nothing much :P

Monday!
After some mugging and printing notes at RC HQ in the morning, I went to Salted Caramel with a friend! It's quite near school at Thomson. Haha, it's somehow quite relaxing, to sit somewhere, not having to worry about anything and to enjoy each other's company.

Tuesday
This is M. We talked about school, affairs of the heart and grumbled about classmates with horrible work ethics/attitudes. Ate Swedish meatballs with potato drizzled with raspberry sauce from IKEA and shopped at G2000. GP tuition at night.
So lastly, today I thought about how I can find my self-worth in this competitive world. It kind of sucks to always know there are people better than you and you don't have a particular niche to focus upon. Actually, I still have no idea how....

I'm going to make Term 2 a blast. My new motto:
Work Hard to Play Hard.

Re-post

The Quiet World
by Jeffrey McDaniel

In an effort to get people to look
into each other's eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn't respond,
I know she's used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

Haha, seems like a good list of things to do with my friends.

I spent the best two hours at tuition just now.
I really enjoyed it. So Suz is now my Tues tution buddy.
(written on Tues)
Many things going on this week, haha, no time to update. Prolly will write about everything after FAC'12. Such a intense week. I think I have too much extra curricular activities, or that I procrastinate too much. It feels like weeks since I ever done homework.
Heh, integrity FOXYROXY. Don't leak out any unnecessary information. oh blehh.

Sunny Tuesday.

I finally did it.

There's so much junk subscription in my Google Reader; such as tumblr feeds that churns out repetitive disillusional photos of pretty places and people, blogs that my friends no longer update, and blogs of people who I hardly know but I still follow. I managed to re-organise all the sites in it and deleted around 80% of my subscriptions.

So now, I'm left with around only 8 sites which belong to my friends. But I added in some news website such as the Guardian and Scientific American. Haha, will still be reading me and my old 408 buddies old time favourite 'yawning bread'.

Well, it just occured to me that after my SATs ended, I stopped reading proper books and news articles and wasted away my precious youth on trivial posts such as Facebook feeds and blog posts which leave me rather empty and overwhelmed at the same time.

So for the sake of my GP grade, and in hope of finding my intellectual counterpart xD, I shall devote more time to better stuff on the Internet!

Amis pour la vie

Today I felt like a really horrible person. Like half of the time I wasn't paying full attention to the people I was around with, and was thinking of joining other people all the time.

I used to think that things never fall apart if I kept the effort to make it stay intact, especially the friendships that I have forged over the years in secondary school. If I make an extra effort to say hi and wave to the people I know when I see them or organise meetings with people I'm very sure I can still stay close friends with everyone.
I felt slightly melancholic about how people and my relationships are changing so rapidly in JC. Well, I want to spend loads of time with my old buddies, such as from rgsrcy, 408'11, rsp etc, but then comes the obstacle of having insufficient time, and managing new relationships, and not being able to spend time with multiple groups of people. But oh well, I'm sure it's not only my problem. All my friends are busy mingling with their new friends from OG, class and CCAs.
And before these old friends meet up, I thought things would always be like the past, when we would laugh at the same old things. Bah, it's just hard to converse and laugh over bubbles of frivolous topics.

http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/200109/can-men-and-women-be-friends

"If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, it may explain at least one of their shared beliefs: Men and women can't be real friends. Blame the sexual tension that almost inevitably exists between any red-blooded, heterosexual man and woman. Point to the jealousy that plagues many rational people when a significant other befriends someone of the opposite sex. Boil it down to the inherent differences between the sexes. It just can't be done. Right?

Wrong, relationship experts have said. "The belief that men and women can't be friends comes from another era in which women were at home and men were in the workplace, and the only way they could get together was for romance," explained Linda Sapadin, a psychologist in Valley Stream, New York. "Now they work together and share sports interests and socialize together." This cultural shift has encouraged psychologists, sociologists and communications experts to put forth a new message: Though it may be tricky, men and women can successfully become close friends. What's more, there are good reasons for them to do so.
